2014 NORTH INDIAN OCEAN CYCLONE SEASON was a bit subdued or below norml cyclone season with only 3 cyclones formed in the basin, also 2 formed in Arabian Sea itself making Bay of Bengal to host only one cyclone. 1. DEPRESSION [TROPICAL STORM] DURATION: Jan 4- Jan 7 It was at its peak with about 45km/h winds, 1004hpa[mbar] pressure. FORMATION: Near Srilanka coasts. 2013 NORTH INDIAN OCEAN CYCLONE SEASON was an active cyclone season with 5 cyclonic storms, 5 depressions and many more. 1. CYCLONIC STORM VIYARU [TROPICAL STORM] DURATION: May 10- May 17 It was at its peak intensity of 85km/h winds, 990hpa[mbar] pressure. FORMATION: Southern BOB It started to move in W-NW direction, however due to subtropical ridge it turned ENE direction. LANDFALL: Chittagong, Bangladesh. 2. DEPRESSION BOB 02 [MONSOON] DURATION: May 29- May 31 It was at its peak intensity of 45km/h sustained winds, 990hpa[mbar] pressure. FORMATION: North BOB DIRECTION: North LANDFALL: West Bengal. 2012 NORTH INDIAN CYCLONE SEASON is one of the subdued cyclone seasons, which consists only two cyclones each in Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. Also, only three depressions, including one deep depression in this season. 1. DEEP DEPRESSION BOB 01 DURATION: Oct 10- Oct 11 The peak intensity of this system was 55km/h, 1002hpa[mbar]. FORMATION: SE of Kolkata coasts. It made landfall in Hatiya, Bangladesh. 2. CYCLONIC STORM MURJAN [TROPICAL STORM] DURATION: Oct 22- Oct 26 It was at its peak intensity of 75km/h sustained for 3 minutes, 998hpa[mbar] FORMATION: SW ARB DIRECTION: W-SW [ Unusual track ] It made landfall in Somalia on Oct 26th. 3. DEPRESSION ARB 01 [TROPICAL STORM] DURATION: Jun 11- Jun 12 PEAK INTENSITY: 45km/h, 996hpa[mbar] FORMATION: Near Mumbai coasts. LANDFALL: Saurashtra, Gujarat. 3. DEEP DEPRESSION BOB 02 [MONSOON] DURATION: Jun 16- Jun 23 PEAK INTENSITY: 65km/h FORMATION: Extreme North BOB LANDFALL: Sagar Islands, West Bengal It gave good rains in Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh states. 4. Direction: W-NW Landfall: Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. 2. CYCLONIC STORM BANDU [TROPICAL STORM] DURATION: May 19- May 23 PEAK INTENSITY: 75km/h, 994hpa[mbar] Formation: Somalian coasts. Landfall: Yemen and Somalia. Notably, Arabian sea has been active during 2010. 3. VERY SEVERE CYCLONIC STORM PHET [CAT-4] DURATION: May 30- Jun 7 PEAK INTENSITY: 155km/h, 964hpa[mbar] Formation: SE ARB, SW of Mumbai coasts. Landfall: Gulf of Oman. 4.
